horizon coordinate system
Modern Description

written by Susanne M Hoffmann

In the coordinate system that is based upon the local horizon of the observer, the longitude-like coordinate of a star is counted in degree distance from "south" and the latitude-like coordinate is measured from the horizon upwards. This coordinate (here marked with "h") is the altitude of a star.
